A Brand New Sarkee
A baby was born on Sark at the end of last month, only the third to be delivered on the island in the last six years. Usually ladies in labour are taken to hospital in Guernsey to give birth or they go and stay there a few days before they are due but Leanne Joyner’s little girl had other ideas. When Leanne went into labour the Flying Christine ambulance boat with a midwife on board set sail for Sark. By the time the midwife arrived at Leanne’s house though baby Ella Rose had been safely delivered by Sark doctor John Stevenson and with no complications there was no need for Leanne or Ella to be taken to hospital. Leanne and husband Matt are delighted to have a baby girl as they already have three boys; Nathan age 6, Connor age 3 and 2-year-old Warren. Leanne is no stranger to giving birth in a hurry as Warren also arrived quickly and was born in the Sark ambulance parked on the harbour wall while meeting the Flying Christine.
