A New Wedding Venue for Sark
Two couples have tied the knot recently in Sark’s newest wedding venue. The Chapel in the grounds of the Seigneurie has been renovated by the Seigneurie Gardens Trust and is used as a museum and information centre. Since a change in the law at the beginning of last year it is now also used for civil weddings. Ian and Yvonne Wainwright from Guernsey were the first couple to use it in a ceremony conducted by Sark’s Deputy Registrar General, Trevor Hamon, in the presence of 65 guests. The bride arrived in a carriage driven by Julie and the reception was held at Hathaways. A week later it was the turn of Vicki and Jonathon De La Haye from Jersey. Ash and Megan drove their carriages and the reception was held at Stocks Hotel. Couples wishing to marry in Sark now need only three days residency. There are two churches on the island and a choice of venues for civil ceremonies and receptions as well as wedding photographers, a florist and hair and beauty practitioners.
