Aladdin Comes to Sark
Sark Theatre Group were treading the boards again this month this time with a pantomime specially written for them by local musician Ray Lowe. The story was set entirely on Sark and featured an evil villain from Jersey with plans to take over the island and throw Aladdin, Wishey Washey and Widow Twankey out of their laundry. Aladdin, played by Emma Fawson, fell in love with the unobtainable Jessica, daughter of the Governor General Sark, played by Alison Mills. Of course the genies, played by Gail Le Leivre and Hilary Curtis, come to the rescue and all had a happy ending. There was singing and dancing aplenty, including a song all about Sark Shipping, and no end of Sark based jokes. Gavin Nicolle was hilarious as Widow Twankey and, along with a French maid with a very dodgy accent, a footman, a chef and a constable, a great time was had by both the cast and the audience.
