Autumn in Sark
The long summer holiday may be over for school children but Sark makes a wonderful destination in autumn with plenty to see and do. The island is often blessed with calm, sunny weather with beautiful golden light and stunning sunsets at this time of year. Carriage tours are still taking place twice a day with the choice of either a set route or a bespoke ride wherever your fancy takes you. A real treat is a night-time ride to your favourite restaurant on a carriage lit by candle lanterns. George Guille runs his fascinating round the island boat tours throughout autumn taking advantage of the calm seas and mild weather and of course the shops and restaurants are open in the Avenue and elsewhere on the island. La Seigneurie Gardens are open until the end of October and at the moment are bursting with roses, dahlias and dozens of other blooms. Getting to Sark couldn’t be easier with several ferries a day from Guernsey throughout autumn and Manche Ile run ferries from France and Jersey throughout September. If you’re thinking of visiting the island this year and haven’t made it so far, now’s the time to come.
