Big Spring Jumble
The last jumble sale of the season took place on Saturday 11th May when crowds packed the Island Hall in search of a bargain. There was the usual selection of stalls selling clothing, toys, books and bric-a-brac as well as a tombola, raffles and cake stall. There was also a sale at the Old Island Hall earlier selling crockery and other household items all for the same cause. The events were organised by photographers Lydia Bourne and Sue Daly who were raising funds to pay for the printing of a ‘calendar girls’ style calendar that they are creating featuring Sark’s Emergency Services personnel. The calendar will be on sale in June and the profits will be split between Sark Emergency Services and Leukaemia and Lymphoma Research. Almost £1,200 was raised on the day much to the delight of the organisers who would like to thank everyone who helped by supporting the event.
