Celebrating the Tide
On 22nd August Sark experienced one of the highest tides of the year with a rise and fall of almost ten metres between high water and low. The best place to appreciate this amazing movement of water is Creux harbour where on high tide the water came within a couple of feet of the top of the harbour wall. The warm weather and high tide attracted almost a hundred people to the harbour, many enjoying the calm conditions by taking a swim. Younger bathers took the opportunity to display their diving skills with all sorts of styles on show from simple leaps to elegant swallow dives and somersaults. A small trampoline was carried down the hill especially for the occasion and a great time was had by children, dogs and older bathers alike.
