Christmas Eve in Sark
The highlight of the festive season for many in Sark is Christmas Eve when islanders wander the length of the Avenue enjoying mine pies and a tipple or two in the shops and other businesses. It’s a lovely time to catch up with friends and do the last minute shopping. For the island’s carol singers it is the last outing of their epic round the island tour that takes place over four nights. On Christmas Eve they began at Gallery Stores and sang their way down the length of the Avenue. The staff at Foodstop always throw themselves into the Christmas spirit with great gusto. This year one end of the store was turned into Santa’s workshop, complete with five moving elves busy at work. On Christmas Eve the staff dressed up as lady Santas complete with lovely red velvet capes, gowns and hats.
