Friends of Sark Music continue their summer season of events on July 4th when the hugely entertaining cabaret trio Fascinating Aida will be performing at the Island Hall. The Sark to Jersey rowing race is due to take place on Saturday 6th July, having been postponed due to bad weather last month. The Sark Folk Festival also takes place this weekend but tickets and accommodation have long since sold out. Local photographer and film maker Sue Daly will be doing a presentation on Wednesday 10th at the Island Hall, it will be a Projection of a new collection of Sark photographs from the 1880s. Can you identify some of the locations and people? Please bring your pre-1950s Sark photographs too. All welcome. No entrance fee. Donation to La Societe Sercquaise. Bee enthusiast and campaigner Brigit Strawbridge will be giving a talk on Thursday 11th July at 5pm at the Island Hall explaining the importance of bees, their lifestyles and the problems they face. Later that evening there is an over 50s darts competition at the Mermaid Tavern. The summer programme of guided history and wildlife walks continues this month with Jan Guy’s ‘The Sea Round Us’ on 8th July explaining local navigation and pilotage, fishing and marine life and Visitor Office Karen Adams will be leading rock pool rambles on 23rd July and August 1st, 8th and 20th. Sark Garden Walks take place every Friday afternoon at 2pm. La Seigneurie Gardens has a guided walk with one of the gardeners every Wednesday at 11.30am. Guided walks around the Gardens for groups of six or more can also be booked in advance on any day of the week.
