RAMSAR site and Gouliot Caves

The Gouliot Headland is a RAMSAR site (it gained this status in 2007), recognised worldwide as having special animal and plant life, particularly the marine life in the Gouliot Caves, a large sea cave system on the Sark side of the Gouliot passage. La Coupée, the causeway which joins big and little Sark, is about 100m long. It is a high ridge 80 metres (262 ft) above the sea which is only some three metres in width.
