Finding out how Sark works
Pupils in Class Two at Sark School were down at the harbour last week to watch the cargo being unloaded as part of their current project on how Sark works. Jan Guy, chairman of the Harbours Committee, was on hand to explain how the island’s cargo boat, the Sark Viking, was built especially for the job complete with a tank for carrying fuel to the island. The children also learnt about how the crane works and role of the carters in unloading the Viking and delivering the cargo around the island. The children took photographs to use in their presentations back at School but the highlight of the morning was a chocolate biscuit each at break time! The same project saw the children sitting in on a small part of the last Chief Pleas meeting and creating artwork to illustrate Sark Tourism’s 2014 map.
