In Praise of the Ocean
The annual Sea Service was held on Sunday 12th August in Creux harbour. The joint service brought readings, blessings and prayers from the reverend Gill Nicholls of St Peter’s Church, Brian Mercer and Karen Le Mouton of the Methodist Church and Kathy Dewe representing the Roman Catholic Church. Lay Preacher David Neale also led a prayer. Guernsey’s Salvation Army band were on hand to provide musical accompaniment to the hymns and the Flying Christine Ambulance Boat and Guernsey’s lifeboat, the Spirit of Guernsey, were tied up alongside in the harbour. Afterwards both vessels were open to the public.
