In 2005 Sark’s Island Hall was opened by the Duke of York and since then it has been at the heart of much of island life. The area nearest the road is home to Coumme-Nous, Sark’s art and craft co-operative, and the central area has a bar, eating areas and rooms that are used for all manner of events from elections and public meetings to yoga and theatrical rehearsals. There are a variety of indoor sports facilities as well as showers and changing rooms for outdoor sports such as hockey, football, rugby and cricket that take place on the ajoining fields. The main hall is a beautiful, wooden-vaulted room reaching the full height of the building. It has a professional lighting system for theatre, film and musical performances and is a popular venue for parties, wakes, wedding receptions and all manner of civil get togethers and celebrations. It is a multi-purpose sports area for indoor activities and also hosts Sark’s two annual flower shows and plethoral of jumble sales and other fund raising events. If you want to know what’s happening on Sark, the Island Hall is the place to be!
