Yesterday Sark celebrated 73 years since the Liberation of the island from the occupying German forces, as usual a day after Jersey and Guernsey. The event was marked with a visit from a group of Chelsea Pensioners and Gurkhas. After a carriage tour to the Coupée and a chance to sample some Caragh Chocolates, our visitors joined islanders on the Millennium Field for a picnic. During the afternoon there was entertainment as the Gurkhas performed two of their traditional dances, a Pensioner played the bagpipes and Sark School children sang. The weather was perfect for the celebrations and our visitors finished their day on Sark with a drink at the Bel Air before catching the ferry back to Guernsey.
