Lighting up for Christmas
The usual inky blackness of Sark’s night sky has been replaced by a dazzling array of multi-coloured lights thanks to the efforts of Sark Electricity Company. Santa and Miss Sark Princess, Katie Knight, switched on the Christmas lights last Friday after a countdown by the crowd. Sark School choir set the scene with some festive songs and Stocks Hotel provided delicious mince pies and mulled wine. After the lights were admired and Santa had given out his presents the children went to a special Christmas disco at the Mermaid. Fans of Sark’s stunning night sky need not fear though – the Christmas lights are only in the Avenue leaving the rest of the island to enjoy the fabulous views of the Milky Way and the constellations that Sark is so well known for.
