Sark Theatre Group’s first performance of A Midsummers Night’s Dream, held appropriately on 21st June, was a sell out success. The weather during the day was wet and windy but the skies cleared just in time for the play that was performed outdoors in the perfect setting of Stocks hotel’s courtyard. In recent years the Group’s theatrical offerings have mainly been comedies, musicals and pantomimes but they did perform this Shakespearean comedy 17 years ago. Some members of that original cast were in the recent production and Linda Williams repeated her role as Tom Snout the Tinker who plays Wall in the play within the play. Ten local children made up a colourful band of fairies, complete with glittery wings, to support Mini McCusker as Titania and Gail Le Livre at Oberon in fairyland. The show will be repeated this summer with the next performance taking place on Wednesday 11th July.
