The end of June brought the first of Sark’s two flower and produce shows, the Midsummer Show and Garden competition. Some of those taking part delivered their floral entries to the Hall the night before but most preferred to bring them on the morning of the show. One thing they all had in common was a battle with the wet and windy weather Sark has experienced over the last few months which has made finding the perfect bloom more of a challenge. All the same, the Hall was full of beautifully arranged vases of roses, sweet peas and many other flowers. Among the winners was Wendy Maitland was awarded a challenge trophy for the best exhibit in show with an arrangement of roses from her own garden.
