Picnics on Sark
There is nothing quite as delicious as a meal enjoyed in the great outdoors and many of our hotels and restaurants have terraces, patios and gardens where you can eat al fresco.
A picnic on Sark is also a delight. Our food shops can supply a wide range of breads and ready prepared food suitable for a picnic.
All our beaches are suitable for picnics. If there is a breeze, go down to the lee side of the island if you want to get out of the wind. Pebbly beaches such as Greve de la Ville and Port du Moulin will save you getting sand in the sandwiches but if the children want sand for castles or cricket, try Grande Greve which is a large sandy beach (to be accessed by a steep cliff path, under your own risk). There is also Dixcart or Derrible at near low tide. Please note that most of the beaches do not have litter bins so please bring your litter back home or up to the bins in the village.
To enjoy lunch with a view try some of the cliffs and cliff paths. There are benches in many of the scenic spots. The Eperquerie on the north of the island, the path above Port du Moulin and the seat looking over Derrible Bay and the Hog’s Back are particular favourites.
If it is sunny but windy a picnic in one of our valleys may be just the thing.
If the wind is from the east or north, go down the path in Little Sark which is signed to Port Gorey. If the wind is from the west or south west, try the seats on the footpath which runs parallel to Harbour Hill.
Believe it or not, Sark has about 22 miles of coast line. A little exploration will enable you to find your own picnic spot where, very often, you will be disturbed by no one at all.
