Pirates of the Big Roussel
Passengers waiting on the quay in Maseline Harbour for the six o’clock sailing to Guernsey on Saturday had a surprise when the Sark Belle arrived flying the skull and crossbones and her decks awash with pirates, shipmates and the odd mermaid or two. Even more bizarre was the bingo caller! This was a new event for Sark, Pirate Bingo on the Belle, and very popular it proved too. Helen and Alex Magell arranged the cruise around the island, with a little help from the Isle of Sark Shipping Company and bingo caller ‘Admiral’ Peter Plummer. There was even time to stop in Grève de la Ville for some sailors to walk the plank. Everyone on board dressed up, even the crew, and enjoyed the bingo complete with stunning views of the island and over a thousand pounds was raised for the Professor Saint charity.
