Presentations and Premiers
Friday 19th November was a big night in Sark for not only was it Cheque Presentation Night but it also brought the broadcast of a very special television programme. The event, held at the Island Hall, began with a buffet supper before everyone settled down to watch the first episode of ‘An Island Parish’, a BBC series filmed on Sark last summer. The live screening was projected onto the walls of the Hall on two sides so everyone had a great view. (We later heard that over two million people also tuned in.) Next came the cheque presentation itself when Miss Sark Princess, Yasmin Williams, gave Dr John Stevenson a giant cheque for the Professor Saint Fund for over forty thousand pounds, an incredible amount and almost ten thousand pounds more than last year. This is the first time the total of the year’s fundraising is revealed, the culmination of the Sheep Racing Weekend and many other events throughout the year. This was followed by a raffle and auction to kick start next year’s efforts.
