Sark Guided Walks
Sark is a walker’s paradise with some of the most beautiful walks in the Channel Islands. There is an abundance of life and colour where the flora blooms from early Spring into late Autumn and the colour of the sea changes from the deepest blue to translucent turquoise. Let Beth, your guide, take you on one of her three guided walks. All you have to do is relax, follow and take photographs of the stunning scenery. None of the stresses of flowing maps or struggling to find signposts.
THE THREE WALKS
The island is too big to see in one day so there are three different walks to choose from: the North, the South and the Mid Island Walk. Each walks is taken at a relaxed pace and is designed to highlight and admire the beauty of the island. Beth is mindful that this is your holiday and as such believes that you should be able to walk as much or as little as you choose. For that reason there are various opt-out points along each walk so that you can choose when you wish to stop. Just let Beth know and, at the next available opt-out point, she will direct you to the nearest restaurant or The Avenue (the main street at the top of Harbour Hill).
NORTH ISLAND WALK
A distance of just over 8 miles around the north of the island, from the Harbour on the east side to Port a la Jument on the west side, following lanes and coastal paths. With views over the lighthouse, La Greve de la Ville, Les Fontaines Bay and Port du Moulin to name a few. Visit the Eperquerie, the Window in the Rock, the site of the 6th century monastery and the 16th century mill. The views out to sea over to other islands are also special.
SOUTH ISLAND WALK
A touch under 9 miles. Walking from Creux Harbour on the east side, around the South coast into Little Sark and along the west coast up to Havre Gosselin. A beautiful coastal walk with views over numerous bays, caves and rocky outcrops. We will walk to Hog’s Back and over the isthmus La Coupee overlooking the magnificent Grande Greve and visit Venus Pool, the Silver Mines and the Pilcher Monument to name but a few.
MID ISLAND WALK
Around 7 miles. This walk takes you to some of the beautiful viewpoints and to interesting places and is mainly inland. Learn more about Sark’s people, folklore and history (including the German Occupation during WW II). You will see, amongst other things, the grounds of the 6th century monastery, La Coupee, the Pilcher Monument, the Church, the 19th century jail and the Chief Pleas (parliament and court).
