Sark School Celebrates a Great Year
The academic year was brought to an end in great style recently when Sark School held their Celebration Evening, a presentation for friends, parents and families of their recent achievements. Highlights of the last twelve months include the first birthday of the school’s natural history group Sark Watch, Catherine Doyle winning the Student of the Year Award from the Nisai Academy, the on-going success of the Forest and Beach Schools for the younger children and Class Three’s ‘Out and About’ project. There was a slide show of pictures from the school trip to Herm last year and Class One sang their song ‘Perfect Day’ to pictures of themselves enjoying Forest School.
Mali and Esmée sang the ‘Sheep Racing’ song, (one of four the children have composed for the International Song Project), Class Two gave a recorder performance and Class Three showed two of the wonderful films they have made to advertise Sark. Presentations then followed for sports, effort, attendance, endeavour and progress and Katie Knight was presented with the Citizen Award for her charity fund-raising success. Finally, leaving books were presented to the five students who have now come to the end of their time at Sark School and they were wished well for their future studies. It was a wonderful evening and shows the breath of projects the students enjoy here in the Sark, their success and how much fun they have learning.
