Sark’s Own Bake Off
The island’s very first Bake Off was held at the weekend with 24 delicious desserts, pies and puddings in the running for the title of Sark’s Star Baker. The event was held in the marquee at the Seigneurie. This event was organised by the Carnival Committee in aid of the Professor Saint Fund. During the evening a cheque for £29,639 was presented by Mia, Miss Sark Princess, to Dr John Stevenson on behalf of the Fund as the total of all the charity events held during the last year. The Bake Off was judged by Stocks chef, Daniel Wood, who awarded first prize to Dean Southern for his chocolate mousse with wild berry coulis. Jan Wolford came second with her lemon cream puffs with mulberry sauce and Kathy Dewe’s caramel and chocolate brownies with black currant coulis was awarded third prize. All of the entries were eaten by the guests after judging and very delicious they were too!
