Scarecrow Winners
Yesterday was judging day in the annual scarecrow competition and this year’s theme is fifty years of Sark Shipping, to celebrate the company’s birthday this June. There are mermaids and drunken sailors, a pirate, all sorts of ships and even a re-creation of Maseline Harbour. Yan Milner and Stacey Upson from Sark Shipping judged the entries and declared Debbie Smith and Natalie La Galloudec the winners for their fabulous glittery mermaid and sea captain. Sue Guille came second with her miniature ship, complete with sea gull and button-eyed sailor, and Helen Magell took third place with her Bon Marin packed with passengers and their luggage accompanied by a mermaid. All the entries won a pair of return tickets. To follow the Sark Scarecrow Trail pick up an entry form from the Visitor Centre. There’s a prize for first winner out of the hat.
