The Mistletoe Arrives
Despite the terrible weather, French sailor Jean Guerin arrived in Sark on 19thDecember with a very festive gift for the island; a boatload of mistletoe. Jean is a great friend of fisherman Bas Adams and is a regular visitor to Sark in the summer in his boat, Long John Silver. He has been bringing mistletoe to Sark from his home in Normandy for several years now. Bas met Jean at the harbour and loaded up his tractor then I helped him deliver it all around the island including out to Little Sark. Meanwhile, Jean had a lumpy journey back to Carteret and problems with his engine meant that he didn’t get home until gone ten o’clock, despite leaving Sark at two. Many thanks indeed to Jean for going to all of that trouble to bring some festive cheer to all of us here. We owe you many kisses!
