Top Astronomers on Sark for Meteor Watching
Robin Scagell, President for the Popular Society of Astronomy, and Professor Ian Morison from Jodrell Bank are here on Sark to watch the Perseid meteor shower. The event happens for a few days every year when the earth moves through debris trail of the Swift-Tuttle comet but this year it coincides with a new moon that sets before midnight allowing a particularly good view of the night sky. The shower reaches its peak on Sunday night. Robin and Ian are giving a series of talks on astronomy and practical demonstrations on viewing both the sun and the night sky. Look in the diary of the Sark website for further details.
