A Super Place to See the Super Moon Eclipse
Clear skies last night meant that Sark was the perfect place to enjoy fabulous views of a rare blood moon. This magical event is the combination of a super moon, when the moon’s orbit is closest to earth and so appears 8% larger, and a full lunar eclipse when the earth is positioned almost exactly between the moon and sun. At just after 01.00 the earth’s shadow began to appear on the face of the full moon and by around 03.30 it was completely covered. The moon turned a beautiful orange colour and, with its glow dulled, the stars were also visible. It was a stunning sight and well worth staying up late for. A time lapse film of the eclipse seen from Sark is available at https://vimeo.com/140644884
