Saturday 22nd September

‘Secrets of Little Sark’ with Jan Guy

Starting at 11.45 from La Sablonnerie

While enjoying some of the most beautiful footpaths the island has to offer, learn about a brief silver mining boom in the 1830s and how it affected Sark’s future.A short but moderately demanding walk exclusively on paths for those with a good head for heights. Starts and ends at La Sablonnerie Tea Gardens.

            

 Sunday 23rd September

  Exploring East with Jenny Hopkins

 Starting at 11.15 from the Visitor Centre.

 Visiting the ‘ancient and historic!’ Sark Henge and then views across to Jersey.  The path down to the Harbour Hill has a series of steps and the subsequent fairly steep ascent up to the Pilgrims’ Path leads to rewarding views of Maseline Harbour.  This walk ends at the Collinette.

 

 Monday 24th September

The Sunny South with Jan Guy

 Starting at 11.15 from the Visitor Centre.

With lots of changes of gradient this walk explores the southern footpaths with excellent views over Derrible and Dixcart Bay. There may also be time to visit Sark Henge. Starts at The Visitor Centre and ends at La Coupee.

 

Tuesday 25th September

 In the footsteps of the Commandos with Reg Guille

 Starting at 11.15 from the Visitor Centre.

Follow in the footsteps of the brave commandos who came to Sark during the German Occupation with Lieutenant Colonel Reginald Guille.  Hear about the raiding party, their operation on Sark, its consequences and their fates thereafter. This walks ends at Dixcart Hotel.

 

 Wednesday 26th September

‘East is East’ with Jan Guy

Starting at 11.15 from the Visitor Centre.

The east side of Sark is less well endowed with footpaths and as a result is sometimes rather under explored. Travelling on as few roads as possible you will hear about the lighthouse and perhaps visit one or two places not usually found by visitors to the island.  Starts at The Visitor Centre and ends at the top of L’Eperquerie.

 

Thursday 27th September

Sark’s Centre Old and New with Jenny Hopkins           

11.15 from the Visitor Centre.

This will be an easy walk, mostly on roads, which gives visitors a glimpse into aspects of Sark history through some of its buildings, ending at the Seigneurie main gates.

 

Friday 28th September

 True North with Jan Guy

Starting at 11.15 from the Visitor Centre

Exploring, and hearing some of the history of the Port du Moulin Valley then doing the same for a large part of the Eperquerie Common makes for a dramatic and exciting walk. It also leaves walkers in the right location to visit La Seigneurie gardens.This walk ends at La Seigneurie Gardens.

 

 Saturday 29th September

 Go West -Wild and Wonderful with Jenny Hopkins

 Starting at 11.15 from the Visitor Centre

A stroll down Stocks Meadow and up past La Jaspellerie to the beautiful cliff path to

La Coupée. A short walk along the road back from La Coupée leads to a track to the Pilcher Monument and then the Gouliot Headland with its stunning views along the West side of Sark. This fairly easy walk, mainly on path or tracks, ends at The Manse .

 

The walks are £6.00 per person and where possible should be booked in advance. All except one (on 22nd September) begin at the Sark Visitor Centre. Walks take around 2.5hrs (although this can vary depending upon the group).

Boots or strong shoes recommended for all walks. Bring waterproofs and a drink. You may also want to bring a picnic for afterwards.
