Death in Plain Sight
Death in Plain Sight.
Guests at Stocks Hotel were transported back in time to the Occupation over the last two Saturday nights for the Sark Murder Mystery Company’s dinner production of ‘Death in Plain Sight.’ The story was set in the hotel in 1943 when proprietors Hedley and Edith Baker (Gavin Nicolle and Fiona Heald) are hosting a dinner attended by the new German Kommandant. Much to Hedley’s consternation his sister Hannie (Vanessa Clarke) is deeply involved in the local resistance organisation Sark Underground Liberation Group, SLUG, and a British agent posing as his niece, Cordelia Fairfax (Sandy Hunt), is also living at the hotel. Hedley is keeping his beloved pig Scarlet hidden from the Germans in the cellar and stealing moments with the glamorous waitress Nanette (Sue Daly.) What followed was an evening of comedy and intrigue as the Kommandant is discovered dead, poisoned by his meal in plain sight. Was Edith’s parsnip soup to blame, or were darker forces at work?
