Happy Birthday Isle of Sark Shipping
Islanders and visitors gathered at Maseline Harbour on Monday this week to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Sark’s very own shipping company. The festivities began with a round-the-island boat trip onboard the Sark Belle for the island’s school children who were taken ashore in Creux Harbour. The Belle then went around to Maseline Harbour where the island’s crane had been decked out with flags. The guests went aboard including past and current staff and crew of the company. After short speeches of thanks from Seigneur Christopher Beaumont, Jeremy La Trobe-Bateman and company manager Jan Milner, a painting by Martin Remphry featuring some of the ships that have served Sark was presented. The guests then enjoyed a trip around the island with a glass or two of fizz to celebrate the birthday.
