Seafood
If you are like many visitors to Sark, and love fresh seafood, you can’t get better and fresher than Sark produce.
To protect the beautiful seas and marine life around Sark the lobster and scallop season is strictly monitored. Fishermen can use lobster pots and dive for scallops between March 20th and October 20th, but not over the winter.
Dredging is not allowed, so scallops have to be hand dived, thus protecting the seabed and the numbers.
Seafood is so fresh here that sometimes it has only been out of the water a couple of hours. At Stocks Hotel you can choose your own lobster, big or small.
Smaller restaurants and cafes also serve local fish and shellfish and it is well worth having a look around at menus.
Food produce does not have to travel far, and Sark restauranteurs try to reduce air miles to tractor minutes.
Try some local seafood. You won’t be disappointed.
At Mon Plaisir Stores, Sark scallops are for sale when available, and Sark lobster and crab can be ordered and cooked. Pip’s Pickers on the Avenue can provide delicious picked Sark crab, which is sold in Food Stop during the season. Choose from large or small tubs, white or brown meat. Perfect for a picnic on the go, or a lovely summer supper.
