Saturday 17th – 12.30 talk by guest speaker Dr Marek Kukula followed by a chance to ask questions  3-4 pm The Planets Suite DVD of the Houston Symphony Orchestra with NASA fly-by pictures of the planets.  6pm buffet supper at Hathaway’s Restaurant followed by star-gazing.

Sunday 18th – 1pm A hosted lunch at Stocks in the company of Dr Kukula and star-gazing in the evening if the weather is kind.

 

Friday 6th April

Good Friday at the Beauregard duckpond. Come and sail your boat on the pond. All ages welcome. Hot chocolate and hot cross buns for sale.

Wildflower Fortnight
See the best of Sark’s wildflowers by joining a guided walk lead by wildflower enthusiasts every Monday, Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday. The Sark World Aid Walk

Start and finish at the Island Hall. Registration from 11 am. Walk starts at 12 noon. Appox. 6 miles. Bring along a picnic and stop off along the route. Tire the dogs and the children out, as well as raising money for a deserving cause. In support of Christian Aid, Oxfam, Save the Children, Action Aid, the Tumaini Fund and Hope for a Child.

Wildflower walk, starts 2pm at the Sark Visitor Centre. Exploring the area around the Eperquerie Common.

 

Thursday 10th May

Liberation Day on Sark

Visit of 12 Chelsea Pensioners and 11 Ghurkas. They will be at the Bel Air in from 11 am onwards and will meet the children outside the Church at 12 noon. At 12.15 pm William Jenkins will conduct a simple ceremony and lament at the grave of Nanette Hamon.

Glimpses of the Occupation

A two hour guided walk led by Visitor Officer Karen Adams, looking at some of the places associated with the Occupation of Sark 1940-1945. Pre-booking advisable. Starts 2pm at the Sark Visitor Centre. To book, telephone 01481 832345. Tickets cost £4 per adult and £1.50 per child.

This 2 hour walk, which has one fairly steep ascent, attempts to answer all the questions visitors to the island ask: Where does your water come from? Where do your children go to school? Do you pay tax? Themes and routes might change if weather is inclement or paths temporarily out of use. Advanced booking at the Visitor Centre is advised. Tickets cost £4 per adult. £1.50 per child. Strong footwear, lightweight waterproofs and small bottle of water are also advised.

You will learn of the altruism, eccentricities and difficulties of our Seigneurs and Dames. Themes and routes might change if weather is inclement or paths temporarily out of use. Sheep Racing Weekend
The ever-popular Sheep Racing will take place over the weekend of July 20th to 22nd. Friday night is Party Night with live music, including City Limits, from 7 p.m. Saturday starts with the Fancy Dress Parade from La Colinette to the Millennium Field at 11.45 a.m. Racing starts soon after. The last race is around 4.20 p.m. after which there will be more live music into the evening. Racing continues on Sunday. More details will be given nearer the time.
